Join railway historian Mark Jones BEM, on a guided railway heritage walk of Faversham, including the route of the former Faversham Creek Branch line and historical railway buildings. Dressed in his classic British Rail uniform, Mark will reveal stories from the past accompanied by old photographs.  
Mark is a long standing railway employee with over 40 years service, and was named in the new year's honours list for services to the community and railway.  

Estimated duration: between 2 hours 30 minutes max.

I'm delighted to be working with  Southeastern Railway , The Seaside Museum , Herne Bay, and  Whitstable Museum , to bring you two exhibitions celebrating 200 years of railway history and development, from The Canterbury & Whitstable Railway being given Royal Assent, and the first passenger train on the Stockton & Darlington Railway, to the modern day. There will be a host of associated events including history walks, guided tours, documentary screenings, heritage walks, and cycle rides incorporating  Crab & Winkle Line Trust ,  Spokes East Kent Cycle Group , and  East Kent Model Railway Society . Our events will start with the opening of our three month Herne Bay and Kent Coast Railway 200 exhibition, at the Seaside Museum from 12th April.

  Thank you for your support throughout the year, 2025 has been an amazing celebration of our railways.  I have really enjoyed working with the Seaside Museum at Herne Bay, Whitstable Museum, the Crab & Winkle Line Trust, Southeastern Railway, Faversham Visitor Information Centre, and the East Kent Model Railway Society.
